Special Report

Module Description – Special Report (pdf)

DESCRIPTION

With Special Reports, EurActiv regularly devotes a week for in-depth editorial coverage of a specific topic or policy dossier.

  • EurActiv commits to to publish one item (news piece, opinion, or interview) every day, from Monday to Friday.
  • On Monday morning, a Special Report page (including title, cover picture and short description) is created, along with the first item published.
  • Every day, the Special Report article is featured on the homepage and in the Daily newsletter, is published on social media, and is stored in the Special Report page.
  • The Special Report is promoted with a two-week banner campaign and social media to drive additional readership.
  • Once all the items are published, the Special Report is compiled in a single PDF file that can be downloaded on the Special Report page.
    • As an additional service, we could also print the PDF and send it to relevant stakeholders at your request (e.g. as reading material for an event). We require an additional charge for your organization, based on printing and postage volumes. We would charge your organization at cost, bearing no margin for EurActiv.
  • After two weeks of publication, EurActiv provides you with a brief analytics report containing readership numbers (e.g. page views, social media shares…) on the articles of the Special Report.

BENEFITS FOR YOUR ORGANISATION

By supporting a Special Report on EurActiv.com, your organisation benefits from:

  • The opportunity to provide input on the topic, potential articles, angles to tackle, relevant interviewees or stakeholders to quote, and additional background information (all to be agreed with the journalist in charge, respecting their editorial independence).
  • Brand visibility on the Special Report page and all other deliverables related (e.g. EurActiv banners promoting the Special Report, PDF compilation).
  • Advertising spaces on the Special Report page, for your own banners (which we can also help design, free of charge).

CLIENT INPUT AND EDITORIAL INDEPENDENCE

When a date and topic of a Special Report is confirmed, we organise a kick-off meeting to discuss, more in detail, the angles of the stories making up the Special Report. We naturally welcome your feedback on this outline in order to make sure that the Special Report best helps putting forward your policy priorities. However, in order to respect the editorial independence of our journalists and the credibility of our coverage, we will consider only fact-based remarks and suggestions.
In general terms, please do keep in mind that:

  • Our coverage will be as inclusive as possible, ideally containing quotes or positions from all stakeholders involved in the debate.
  • We do not send our stories to your organisation for approval prior to publication.
  • Should an interview with a representative of your organization be carried out, we ask you to make sure that the interviewee has been briefed – if necessary – by your team in charge of media relations, so as to avoid potential crossing of ‘red lines’ within your communication or media strategy.
  • To read more about our editorial mission and guiding principles, see our Editorial Mission page on EurActiv.com.
