Bylines are the taxonomies that record the authors, translators and sources of articles. The bylines metabox used on EurActiv is an extension of the default WordPress tags box; information on the behavior of the tag boxes can be found in the online documentation.
IMPORTANT: Do not create hybrid taxonomies. For example, the author “Bill Smith and Jane Doe” should not exist, there should be two authors, one “Bill Smith” and one “Jane Doe”.
Bylines appear at the top and bottom of articles in the format:
By Author, Author | Provider, Provider translated by Translator
Each of these links leads to a page listing articles written by, sourced by or translated by the translator in question. A few notes on each of the types:
- Author: the author field is pre-filled with the currently logged in user’s name when a new post is created.
- Content Provider: the content provider is pre-filled with the current website name by default.
